I am not too sure if you are going to agree with me on this. Being a dog owner is just like having kids. It comes with a lot of responsibility. Just like you need to teach your kids the proper values so that they will grow up to be good persons, you will also need to train your dogs so that they will become well behaved pets.
This is especially important for certain breeds of dog, especially those that are bigger sized or those that have a tendency to be aggressive if they are not properly trained. For example, if you have a Great Dane as a pet, you need to make sure it goes through proper training on how to stop jumping.
Imagine the consequence if a fully grown Great Dane jumps on you. If you are lucky, you will probably get off with just a minor bruise. It can be more serious than that. The worse case scenario is when the Great Dane jump on kids or senior citizens.
And even small dogs can wreck havoc in your house if not properly trained. You certainly do not want your expensive carpet to be urinated upon. You certainly do not want your sofa set to be dirtied. And you do not want your branded shoes to be chewed.
Even some seemingly harmless behavior should be stopped. For example, licking is probably harmless but it can cause a lot of embarrassment for the owners if their dogs keep on licking other people, who don't even want to be licked in the first place.
